Frequently Asked Question
You can obtain the Anotato extension from the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, or Firefox Browser Add-ons
At a later stage we plan to bring out a version of Anotato for Safari and mobiles browsers.
From the main page of the Anotato website click on either one of the blue buttons on the menu bar at the top of the website, or one the blue buttons lower down on the page. Choose whichever button will take you to the extension site for your favourite browser.
Either of these actions will open the Anotato page in in the relevant extension or add-on site, in another tab.
Click on the download button, usually a blue button in the top right corner.
You will see a standard warning. Click on the "Continue to install" button.
This will bring up a final warning. Anotato can change what you see in the browser when you call up a web page. But it cannot make permanent changes to your computer and you can toggle the browser on and off at the click of a mouse button.
Click on the "Add extension" button and the extension will be installed and added to your browser
You can now click on the x in the top right corner to close the message. The Anotato icon may be hidden in the Browser Toolbar. If it is, and you want to make it visible, click on the puzzle piece in the top right corner of the Browser Toolbar.
This will open the Extensions dropdown. You will see "Anotato" and a pin next to it without a line through it. Click on the pin.
This will pin the Anotato Icon to the Browser Toolbar, making the icon visible.
You can now now left click and right click on the Anotato Icon, giving you access to various functionalities.
You can pin and unpin (hide) the Anotato Icon at any time using the puzzle piece and Extensions drop down. However, please note than while unpinning the Anotato icon hides it from view, it does not render it inactive. To make the Anotato extension inactive, see How do I toggle the extension on and off in these FAQs.
